Who’s Brian?
Brian Lockyear, M.Arch, PhD, is a digital voyager with an artistic temperament and an eye for both the sublime and the quirky. Happiest straddling the line between art and computation, he is a digital design specialist with a lifelong passion for architecture. Whether working on a string of computer code, an art print, computer rendering, or building model, Brian enjoys the process of bringing highest function together with enduring beauty and elegance of form. He is currently developing Rhino and Grasshopper plug-ins that enable architects to easily access the latest in parametric design modeling technology, including solar angle calculation. He has recently collaborated on an architectural visualization project in the Open Wonderland virtual environment, as well as developed an algorithmic design for solar shades, and a photopolymer process for printing computer renderings of building elevations. In 2011 Brian served as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Oregon, teaching digital media to overwhelmed grads and undergrads.
